Amenity or dwarf ryegrass is a fast establishing, relatively durable, dark green grass species. This is very easy to germinate but does need plenty of water and nitrogen to look its best. It is capable of handling circumstances of heavy wear and recovers rapidly after these circumstances. Because of this characteristic it has long been used for sports fields throughout Australasia.
